Fingerprints show very easily and must be wiped off frequently, and it can easily dent. In a commercial kitchen, this is normal and less problematic, but in a residential kitchen where you may host dinners and invite guests over, you may not want to have to worry about the aesthetic of your countertop.
Tile
Tile comes in on our list as the least expensive table and countertop material. Ceramic and porcelain tile are the most commonly used and provide near limitless options for colour and design and in the event of a chip or crack, all you have to do is replace one tile. You must ensure that it is sealed properly, as unsealed grout is very prone to staining and any standing moisture can contribute to bacterial growth. If you like to use your table or countertops to bake or cook, tile may not be the best option for you. Cutting boards are necessary!
