sohoConcept at the Interior Design Show 2020

In January, we were honored and excited to attend the Interior Design Show in the heart of downtown Toronto. We've attended this show for years, and without exaggeration, this was the best!
This year's IDS brought over 50 000 people together – industry leaders, designers, conceptualists, and change-makers all looking to shape the future of design.

Ideas for sustainability and environmental priority were clear this year at the IDS, with topics like technology, upcycling, recycling, material sourcing, and sustainable production methods being at the forefront of topics and presentations. Modern design is no longer just about aesthetics; it's about the future, technology, and a changing consumer landscape. There was an amazing mix of local and international designers with ideas to shape trends around the world and right here at home.

Keynote speakers included Frida Escobedo, Ini Archibong, and Yves Béhar, among many others. Hearing about their unique backgrounds, goals, visions, collaborations, and ideas is enough to send any designer straight to the drawing board for their 2021 collection.

A focus at IDS20 was on the intersection of technology and design. This lends naturally to simplicity being a trend in modern design right now. Simple, minimalist, practical, clean – all of the characteristics of futuristic tech can be seen in tons of modern design and modern furniture.

We were so glad to be a part of the Interior Design Show in such a pivotal year. Check out our Instagram for more photos from our time there! We're already looking forward to IDS 2021.
